Pinterest Affiliate Marketing Without a Blog: Here’s How To Do it

The Ins and Outs of Pinterest Affiliate MarketingAffiliate marketing is a great work from home opportunity to help you earn a part time or full time income.  You refer products, and when a consumer purchases, you earn a commission! So, how much can you make? This blogger makes $100K+ every month, with around half that ($50K per month) coming from affiliate marketing. By the way, this is how she does it.  A lot of folks think you need to be a full fledged blogger to earn with affiliate marketing. You don’t! Keep reading to learn how you can do Pinterest affiliate marketing without a blog:
So, you may already know about affiliate marketing. You get paid to refer products to customers and earn a commission when a sale is made.  So, how does this work on Pinterest?
Well, since the introduction of affiliate links being allowed on Pinterest, there is tons of opportunity to earn affiliate commissions.
Here is how you do it:

Step 1.) Create a Pinterest account

We won’t do a rigorous walkthrough for this step. It’s so simple. By the way, if you have an existing Pinterest account, you can use that too.
You can create your Pinterest account in 5 minutes. Make sure to fill out the account fully, create boards, repin, etc.  If you are creating a brand new account, be careful not to go too fast and furious from the start. Pinterest is very sensitive to new users “overusing” the platform, which can result in a ban.

Step 2.) Join affiliate networks

You can join networks or join affiliate marketing programs privately. Here are my favorite:
Shareasale
Flexoffers
Awin
With networks, once you are approved, you then apply to merchants that you want to promote. Once approved by the merchant, you’ll have access to all the tools you can use for promotion. For Pinterest affiliate marketing, you only need your affiliate link.
For private affiliate programs, you go to the merchant directly, like visiting Survey Savvy at surveysavvy.com, or Vindale Research at www.vindale.com, for example. Get approved and get your affiliate link.

Step 3.) Creating Pinterest graphics

You’re gonna create graphics that you can pin on Pinterest. Here are a few staples you’ll need to keep in mind when preparing your pin:
  • Make sure it’s a long pin (vertical image, not horizontal)
  • An image with text overlay performs best
  • Clear, bright photos in the warm color category perform best
  • Images that don’t show faces tend to do better than face images

Not sure how to make a pin?
No problem. Watch this Pinterest tutorial for creating pin graphics using the free software Canva.

Step 4.) Writing awesome captions

So the first part is creating Pinterest graphics, the second part is writing a winning caption. The caption is important because it’s read by the pinner and will help determine if they clickthrough to the pin or not.
You want your caption to be at least 100 words long and make sure it contains plenty of keywords.
Not sure what to write?
Spy on competitors in the industry you’ll be promoting in to get inspiration for your own captions.
