Affiliate Marketing The Ultimate Beginner’s Guide

Affiliate marketing is a popular way of making money online. For most of the bloggers, affiliate marketing takes the largest part of their income.
It’s also my favorite income stream because it gives me the most freedom and flexibility.
That’s why I’ve created this step-by-step beginner’s guide, which includes everything you need to know about affiliate marketing and tips on how to make your first money out of it.
Make yourself comfortable and let’s get started…

What is affiliate marketing?

In simple terms…
Affiliate marketing allows you to make money, by recommending a product or service to your audience and earning a commission when they purchase it, or complete some other action associated with it.

How does affiliate marketing work?

There are 3 simple steps:
You recommend a product or service to your audience.
Those people may purchase the product or service thanks to your recommendation.
You get paid a commission for the sale.

Here is a quick example

Let’s say someone has a blog about tech reviews. And that person writes a review about his favorite headphones.
He can partner with the company that sells those headphones as an affiliate. They’ll give him a special link to the headphones with his affiliate ID.
Every time he uses that link in a blog post and someone clicks it, his affiliate ID follows them for a specific amount of time.
If they decided to buy those headphones at that time, he will earn a commission out of it.
I think you got the point.

The Pros and Cons of Affiliate Marketing

When it comes to affiliate marketing, the pros outweigh the cons at any time.
However, affiliate marketing still has cons. That’s why you have to decide whether it’s right for you or not.
And here they are:

Pros of affiliate marketing

You don’t have to create the product. Someone else has to do this hard and time-consuming work.
Low  responsibility. As an affiliate, you don’t have to deal with inventory, customer service, infrastructure, maintenance, shipping, returns etc. These are all the responsibility of the person who creates the product.
It gives you more freedom. Affiliates have more time to focus on what they want to do next, while still making money in the background from affiliate commissions.
High chances of high commissions. Some affiliate programs offer high commissions. Digital products, for example, usually have commission rates from 30 to 70%. Those are crazy numbers if you ask me.
Low risk. You won’t lose that much if affiliate marketing doesn’t work out for you. The only thing that goes through my mind that you can lose, is the precious time.
The entry barrier is set low. Many affiliate marketing programs are easy and fast to join.
Low maintenance. You can share an affiliate link once on your content and earn commissions for days, weeks, months and even years.
Zero costs to start. Joining an affiliate program is completely free.
Huge income potential. Using a winning strategy can make your income explode.
A wide range of choices. Most of the products come with an affiliate program attached. Think about the products you use and love. You could easily earn money from them as an affiliate.

Cons of affiliate marketing

It takes time to build trust. Even though it’s easy to become an affiliate, without an audience that trusts you, it will be hard to achieve your goals. Building trust takes some time, that’s why you have to be consistent in your work alongside with patience.
It takes time to gain traffic. Again, affiliate marketing is much more profitable if you have a lot of people watching your content, even better with an email subscriber list. Don’t forget about the things above.
You don’t control your audience’s experience. Once you make a referral, your audience may have a bad experience with the advertiser. This can reflect poorly on you and lose their trust.
You don’t control the product or service. Just like you don’t control your audience’s experience with an advertiser, you don’t ultimately control the product or service itself. If they don’t like the product, it can reflect poorly on you as well.
You can lose commissions. It is possible that your promotion may not lead to your commission, but to some other affiliate, due to advertiser way of tracking a customer’s path from referral to purchase.
It’s hard to stand out. Usually, affiliate programs have lots of affiliates. If there’s a promotion going on, it will require a ton of work to separate yourself from the other affiliates, so people buy through your links and not others.
Unwanted restrictions. Many affiliate programs have vague terms and conditions and for the affiliates is crazy important to know and follow them properly. If not, you can get kicked out of a program without warning, which is something to avoid.

Ways of Making Money from Affiliate Marketing

Obviously, affiliate programs reward their affiliates in different ways. Here are some of them:
commission. A percentage of the purchase price, this is a common way.
pay per action. Here, affiliates are paid when customers complete a specific action, like when someone signs up to the advertiser’s email list or prints a coupon via your link.
bounties. Affiliates are paid for every customer they send to an advertiser’s site.
prizes. Some affiliate programs offer physical items or cash to the best-performing affiliates in a particular promotion.
credit. Some affiliate programs compensate affiliates in the form of store credit.

How much can you make with affiliate marketing?

The answer is simple…
There is no limit on how much you can make!
Affiliate marketers make a wide range of income, from a few dollars a month to five & six figures a month.
Everything depends on how you handle things like:
your content quality
your marketing strategies
the trust you offer to your audience
how many people read/watch you content

What are the typical affiliate marketing commission rates?

This commission rates vary depending on the affiliate program.
For example, Amazon Associates pays quite a low percentage for a sale. However, affiliate programs, especially for digital products pay 30 to 70%.
How affiliate marketers get paid?
As usual, it depends on the program you sign for, but the common methods of payment are PayPal, direct deposit, a physical check in the mail, rewards.

How affiliate marketers get paid?

Again, it varies.
But most of them pay you monthly and some of them weekly or quarterly.
Be aware there is usually a lead time for accounting returns and processing before you see the money.
Also, some programs require you to earn a minimum amount, called threshold, in commission before you will be paid. Expect from some affiliate programs to have a 50-100$ threshold.
But there’s nothing to worry about, as long as your goals are set high.
Disclosure: The content on this page does contain affiliate links, meaning I do get some percentage of the product purchased but at no additional cost to you. I do this to help finance the free content that I publish on my website, so I appreciate your support.

How to Start Affiliate Marketing

Well… First of all, you have to become an affiliate marketer, right?
It’s quite simple to become one because there are no certifications and training required, neither fees to enter.
You can join most affiliate programs easy and fast, get your affiliate links and share them with your audience.

A right way to do affiliate marketing

Before I go in more details, here are some easy steps to follow:
Create excellent content. Use a blog or an email newsletter to share your work.
Focus on providing valuable information. Write about something you love and you’re interested and aim to help your readers.
Stay consistent. Consistency is the key; keep publishing regularly to engage people and keep them interested.
Don’t jump on promoting affiliate products. At first, concentrate on gaining trust and providing useful and trustworthy information.
Start promoting. Once you’ve gained trust, slowly start promoting things you use and love.

Things you need to start affiliate marketing

A place to share your work. Think about starting a blog, a website or an email list, a place where people can see your content.
Don’t jump on promoting affiliate links straight to your social media accounts.
It Might be risky because you don’t control their rules, as a result, your accounts may suffer.
Use social media, to promote your blog posts for example. Well… you definitely have to promote your content on social media platforms.
Quality content. People don’t like to see nonstop affiliate promotions. It won’t get you anywhere, and we don’t want that.
Produce useful content and aim to help an audience solve a real problem and after that start recommending products.
An audience. You’ve got to aim a niche and target a specific group of people.
Your ideal audience is the one you know well because you’ve been there and you have the answers to problems they usually face.
Trust. It’s all about trust. Be trustworthy and sincere in everything you do online.
You won’t make sustainable income if you don’t have the trust of your audience.
Products to share. Once you’ve ticked everything from above, you can begin to recommend products or services to your audience.

Do you need a blog for affiliate marketing?
I think is the best way to start affiliate marketing on a blog because is the perfect place to store all your content, also, being available all the time for the readers.

Do you need an email list for affiliate marketing?

Technically no, but is highly recommended.
It will definitely improve your chances of making money as an affiliate marketer if you use as many ways to communicate with your audience as possible.
And email marketing is one of the most effective ways of doing it right.
Sometimes is considered more valuable than the blog/website itself, but without them, you cannot grow the email list properly.
As a result, both the email list and the blog must work together.
So, start with a blog, where your content is always available.
Next, start an email list which is considered a fantastic opportunity to communicate with people by your rules, engage with them and give them trust.
In that way, you don’t have to wait for them to come to your blog, you can go straight to their inboxes.
ConvertKit

Do you need a lot of traffic for affiliate marketing?

Not really, but it helps.
More traffic means more people who will potentially buy the product you promote.
However, you can still make money as an affiliate even if you don’t have tons of traffic.
Unfortunately, some affiliate programs prefer a certain amount of traffic to accept you into their program. In these cases, your traffic counts.
But, don’t let those low traffic numbers (if it’s the case) keep you from trying affiliate marketing!
Hard work pays off!

Choosing Products to Promote

Recommend affiliate products that are relevant for you and work into your niche.
If you got an idea of a product to promote, ask yourself the next questions to determine if it’s a good choice:
Do I have experience with this product? It’s important to be familiar with the product you promote. First, you know what you are talking about. Second, you start to build that trust with your audience.
Would I recommend this product to my family or friends? Think about if you would encourage your family and friends to spend their time and money on this product?
Will my audience realistically buy this product? Again, promote a product that fits your niche and your audience’s needs. Be also careful at the product’s price tag.
Where do you get ideas for products to promote?
There are 3 places to get the right ideas from:
Yourself. Focus on promoting products you already use. Think about them, make a list, find affiliate programs for them and start creating content.
Another available method is to review the existing content.
You may have been talking about a product without having attached an affiliate link on it.
Try to find out if there are affiliate programs for it and start updating that content with affiliate links.
Your audience. Products that solve your audience’s problems are excellent to promote as your readers are usually open to spending money on them.
Ask your readers about what they want. Interact with them on social media, blog/video comments or Facebook Groups, for example.
And don’t forget to check your Google Analytics for useful information about your visitors.
Others in your niche. Always take a look at how are other content creators in your niche doing. Check what types of ads do they use, what are they promoting, what products do they keep talking about.

Joining Affiliate Programs

First, it’s important to understand the difference between affiliate programs and affiliate networks.
An affiliate program works for a single company and an affiliate network gives you access to many affiliate programs of many companies at once.
You can be part of multiple affiliate networks and individual affiliate programs at the same time, so don’t feel limited.

Do you know what product or service you want to promote?

There are several ways of finding an affiliate program:
+ check the company’s website. Look for a separate page like “Affiliates,” “Affiliate Program,” “Referral Program” or something similar and follow the steps to sign up.
+ google it. Search for terms like “(company) affiliate program”. You will probably find what you need.
+ contact the company. If you can’t find evidence of an affiliate program, consider getting in touch with them and ask if they are willing to set one up.
+ join an affiliate network. You have access to a wide range of different affiliate programs.
Once you found one, the joining process is usually quite clear and fast.

Things you should look for in an affiliate program

Income potential. The higher the commission rate, the better.
But there are always affiliate programs with a low commission rate that is worth joining.
Cookie length. Again, the longer the cookie length the better.
When someone clicks through one of your affiliate links a cookie will track their browsing activity and gives you credit for actions they take, like making that product purchase.
Terms. Check if there are rules that might make a program not worth it for you.
Commissions. Many programs will pay you one time for sending a customer.
Other programs will pay you a commission as long as the person you referred is a paying customer.
Let’s say that someone is using a digital product and is paying monthly for it. Well… you get a monthly commission too.
This could go for years and you will still get a commission out of it.
That’s why we love affiliate marketing.
Company’s strategies and relationships. Companies with solid sales pages, funnels and launches are really worth it.
Also, if they communicate with their affiliates, notify if there’s something new, offering marketing advice or tools, even better.
Look out for them!
Company’s reputation. Recommending something with horrible customer service or unreliable products may affect your reputation too.
Be careful!

your blog host: I use Bluehost and I highly recommend it.

How To Use Affiliate Links

Everything happens around your link, use it properly an carefully.
How it works:
You will receive a unique link with your unique affiliate ID to promote.
Share the link with your audience.
Someone clicks it and goes to the product or service you promote.
Your affiliate ID will be tracked via a cookie.
If they complete an action before that cookie expires, you are awarded.
To find your affiliate links, you have to access the company’s affiliate program and look for a specific page like an affiliate dashboard.
There you can find all the information you need to promote and access your links.
The process varies from program to program but most of the companies provide a separate place for.
Before to share your affiliate links, always check the terms and conditions for affiliate programs to find out if there are certain limitations.

Places to share your links

blog posts
link your images
sidebar
footer
emails
video descriptions
reviews
tutorials
social media
webinars
“Tools” or “Resources” pages
in your ebook

How to share your affiliate links properly

Always disclose. Let your readers know when you are using affiliate links.
An image disclosure or general disclosure at the bottom of your site is not enough, make some research.
Don’t waste all the information. Offer enough information so your audience knows what the is about, but don’t give all the details on your content.
Some product information may change, such as price or certain features of the product and can create confusion.
Secondly, the product details are better explained by its company, so it’s better to stick to your own experience.
Avoid using widgets and plugins. You can share your affiliate links tanks with all kinds of tools, but it will slow your site down.
My advice is to stick to your basic HTML and use your images when it’s possible.
Attach affiliate links to images. Users always tend to click an image in order to jump on another page.
It is worth using practice, don’t skip it!
Use them naturally but clear. Avoid being spammy and using the same pattern of sharing them.

Mistakes to Avoid in Affiliate Marketing

Not being aware of the terms and conditions for each affiliate program. You are responsible for knowing the rules of the programs you join.
Ignoring them will force the advertiser to kick you out of the campaign.
Giving your audience great product reviews without actually being familiar with the product. Your readers deserve honest opinions about the products you mention in your content.
At least, if you haven’t tried a product, but you know that is a great and helpful one, mention that fact in your content.
Prove your honesty!
Promoting irrelevant and low-quality products. Most of the readers will notice that and unfortunately, you will lose them.
Promote things that helped you, knowing that will help your people too.
Promoting too many affiliate products. Instead of promoting everything that has an affiliate program, focus on a shorter list of products.
You won’t look spammy at all, plus you can be 100% convinced that those products are truly what you need for you and your audience.

The Next Steps in Affiliate Marketing

Once you’ve got the basics, here are some tips to follow next:

1. Work on your affiliate link’s placement in your posts

It’s important to eliminate distractions. Be careful at links that can take the reader away from your content.
Try to put your affiliate link as close to the beginning of a post and don’t forget to disclose first.

2. Take advantage of your affiliate program freebies

Many affiliate programs provide free guides, webinars or lead magnets designed to get customers to them.
And you can share these freebies with your audience using your affiliate link so it’s a win-win-win situation.

3. Offer your bonus to affiliate deals

Consider adding a bonus such as an ebook or a checklist to get more interest on your affiliate deals. Make sure that it fits the affiliate product.

4. Don’t be scared to experiment

Try different promotional tactics, networks, types of content, ads, post patterns, links placement and many more. Make small changes constantly, things might work way better.

5. Be honest

Talk about what you like and don’t like. Include pros and cons, mistakes you’ve made or they made… the reality.
Be fair and you will build trust.

6. Use your personal experience

Prove something with your evidence, bring your own material and you will succeed. Also, don’t forget to “Be honest”.

7. Check the best affiliate deal

It doesn’t happen often, but some affiliate programs are offered in more than one place. That means some affiliates might pay you more, through a different affiliate network.

8. Ask for special discounts or coupons

Affiliate managers will gladly create special coupons just for your readers.
Plus, people love discounts!

9. Find new products to promote

Create a list of affiliate products that fits your future content. Consider searching for new products to promote, when you have some free time.
In conclusion, affiliate marketing appears to be a great method of monetizing a blog, even the best method for beginner bloggers.
You can start sharing your affiliate links from day 1, so there are no excuses for trying it.

I will break down the whole learning care for you into four simple steps.
At the bottom of this article I have recorded a video walking you through everything we are going to discuss in this blog post.
Before we dive into the article lets look at why affiliate marketing is a great method to start earning some extra money online.
Reasons To Start Affiliate Marketing?
low barrier to entry.
You do not need any experience to start.
Unlimited earning potential – there's literally no cap on how much you can earn with affiliate marketing.
Once you've got this all set up it basically brings in money on complete autopilot for you.
You do the work once and then it can become a truly passive income model and that is one of the reasons why I recommend affiliate marketing.

4 Steps To Affiliate Marketing For Beginners.

Today, I'm going to share how you can get started with affiliate marketing for free from absolutely anywhere in the world and you do not need any experience
How To Start Affiliate Marketing for Beginners – EASY & FREE!

Step 1 – Pick a niche or topic.

Lots of people tend to struggle with this part because there are so many niches that you can pick when starting out.
This can be anything from making money online, weight loss, Yoga, cameras, bikes, baby clothing, sunglasses and so many more.
Niches For Affiliate Marketing: Examples.
Health: Increasing testosterone, Joint pain, Cellulite removal, Healthy Gut, Insomnia.
Wealth: Affiliate Marketing, Drop shipping, Betting, Amazon FBA, Online Jobs.
Relationships: Advice, Tarot Readings, Looking For Love, Bedroom.

Step 2 – Find products to promote.

For this you can either do one of the following when starting out, you can choose either physical products or digital products.
Personally I prefer digital as you can earn a lot more and the person who is buying gets instant access to the product they have bought.
Whichever one you choose there are literally thousands of places you can use to find products to promote or share..
Affiliate Marketing Companies & Networks.
Here are some of the most popular places you can get started with for finding products.
Amazon
eBay
Affiliate Window
Commission Junction
ClickBank
I have written a blog post with many more affiliate networks you can join.

Step 3 – Getting Traffic To Your Affiliate Products.

The first two steps in the process are the easy part, step three is where most people fail.
Yet, getting traffic is probably the easiest.
You have two options with this, paid traffic and free traffic.
Personally I love free traffic and for this you can use platforms like:
Pinterest
Quora
YouTube
Google
Facebook, Twitter, Instgram, Steemit and many many more.
Obviously the paid option will get you traffic and visitors very quickly, but it does come at a cost and when first starting out this can be very expensive.
Currently my favorite source for free traffic is YouTube.
YouTube sends me so much free traffic and the content you put out lasts for years.
Plus your channel can grow very quickly if done the right way.
If you want tips for growing on YouTube check out some of the articles I have on the blog.
I also like Pinterest because it's evergreen traffic.
You can put pins on there and they can generate you traffic for a number of years.
I have pins which are over 18 months old and I still get lots of traffic from Pinterest over to my blog and different affiliate products.

Step 4 – The Follow Up.

Capture the email.
The reason why you want to capture someones email address is because you can follow up and recommend products similar to the original one which they were looking at.
To do this you need an auto responder.
You can get a free email responder with sites like Mailchimp.
Those are the 4 simple steps you need to get started with affiliate marketing.
Below you can see a full walk through showing exactly how this works from start to finish.

6 affiliates to join for when you have no blog viewers | how to make money blogging for beginners | affiliates for new bloggers | the best affiliates to make money blogging

Ready to monetize your blog? You’ve come to the best place to learn about affiliate programs!
We are so glad you stopped by to learn about our favorite ways for new bloggers to start making money with their blogs!
Now, if you are new to this blog, we’d like to say a quick “hey!”, but also give a heads up that we have a free workbook that you can download to get a headstart on your financial journey. Might as well now than later!

WHAT ARE AFFILIATES?

Put short and simple, being an affiliate means you get paid a small percentage or set amount for sending customers (“leads”) to a business or company.
For example, you could write a review article over your favorite clothing store, and let’s say you had previously been approved to be an affiliate for that company through a service like ShareASale or FlexOffers. You add some links to the article and some of your readers click on the links you provide in your article and go purchase from that company. Depending on the affiliate agreement, you may earn from each reader you send, or each reader that purchases, using your link on your blog.

WHY AFFILIATES?

1. START MONETIZING YOUR WEBSITE QUICKLY!

The most honest reason to why almost all new bloggers start off with affiliates are because it is the easiest way to start making money with blogging.
Now, it is important to know that all because you become an affiliate to a business or company, does not automatically mean you’ll start earning tons of cash.
We certainly learned that quickly.
But, really. All it means is that you have the opportunity to earn money, as long as you put effort in to writing compelling articles!
One of our biggest pet peeves is seeing other bloggers be dishonest about products or companies, just because the affiliate payout is large.
Please, do not lie to your audience about products/services you promote. It leads to your pages and blog looking spammy and you may loose viewership if you don’t provide your audience with honest and helpful information!
Going back to the main point…affiliates are an awesome way to start monetizing, and can take very little effort on your part! Some bloggers earn a few dollars a month, while others earn tens of thousands each month from their blogs.
It’s all about choosing the right ones, getting experience, learning from your mistakes, and staying determined!

2. EASY TO JOIN

The affiliates mentioned in this article don’t even take time for your profiles to be approved- you just type in your info and you’re good to start promoting!
Now, there are plenty of affiliate programs out there that don’t allow beginner bloggers to join. There are tons of companies that only want well-established websites, that drive hundreds of thousands of readers each month, to promote their products.
And, honestly, that’s okay! It gives you an opportunity to make goals to promote those products one day, once you start getting the readership you need to apply to those programs.

3. BEGINNER-FRIENDLY

Being an affiliate is the easiest way to monetize, as mentioned above, but it is also the most beginner-friendly.
There are plenty of ways that you may have researched, to earn from blogging.
SOME WAYS INCLUDE:
Create a course on a platform like Udemy
Create and sell an ebook
Create and sell product, whether physical or digital
The problem here is that these alternative methods take a ton of time to create, and if you don’t have many visitors to your blog, or don’t have an established subscriber base via emails, making money will be very difficult!
That’s why we have found that earning through affiliates is the best option for beginner bloggers to start monetizing. It can literally take seconds to sign up, and all you need is an article to plug links into!
If you have suggestions for more detailed information regarding monetizing or affiliates, we’d love to get that information to you! The quicker you can get to earning passive income, the better, right!? The comment section is down below-we’d love to hear from you!

6. BLUEHOST

WHY BLUEHOST?

This affiliate is one of our favorites, due to numerous reasons. But, first, let’s briefly explain what this company even is!
For those of you who have not started a blog yet, you really should check BlueHost out. Reason being, when you start a blog, no one really tells you that you both need a hosting service and a platform to run the blog on.
For example, our hosting is through BlueHost, and the blog is through WordPress.
BlueHost costs money while WordPress is free, but it is required that you have both.
Now, you can always get your hosting from any other service, but we chose BlueHost due to how inexpensive it was, for the amount of security, features, and service we get from it. $3 a month is extremely low compared to other options, and we have never looked for any other hosting service!
Since we have BlueHost hosting, we can use them as affiliates. If you also have them as hosting, you can too!
Pros: The best reason you should promote and earn from BlueHost is because of the high payout!
(Of course you should promote your affiliates because you love the company and want to share it to enhance others’s lives, but you know the real reason here)
For each sign up, you earn $65!

Additionally, you can be approved in less than a minute. Honestly, this is such an easy affiliate option to get approved through!
Cons: We have yet to find any…but we’ll update this page if we find any issues with this affiliate!

5. GRAMMARLY

WHY GRAMMARLY?

No matter your niche that your blog is in, you can promote Grammarly!
It is essentially a software that checks your writing for proper spelling, grammar, and good English overall. It’s extremely helpful if you are a blogger, and it’s free!
It works as a plugin through your internet, such as Google Chrome, and it will check your writing, so you can post worry free!
But, really, Grammarly is applicable to any niche, and to any audience!
Pros: It made this list of the best for beginners, because you earn per each click! Yay! Now, it is only $0.20 per person, but it is something!
Think about this: Let’s say you get 10 people a day to click. That is $2 per day. That ends up being $60/month!
It is satisfying to see your money slowly increase, especially when you are new and want to just see yourself earning something!
Also, Grammarly has insanely high conversion rates (20-40%), AND your links have 90-day cookies attached. Meaning, someone can click on your Grammarly link, learn about it, and then download it two months later, and you still get to earn off it. Pretty neat!
Cons: You can earn quite a bit more if your reader purchases Grammarly’s premium option. But, getting someone to purchase the premium will be a bit difficult. This affiliate may just be an opportunity to make a bit of “extra” cash, on top of your more higher-earning affiliate programs.

4. SHAREASALE

WHY SHAREASALE?

ShareASale is a program that offers the opportunity to become an affiliate to other companies.
If that doesn’t make sense, look above to the Grammarly “Where to find it” section. See ShareASale? That means that to be an affiliate for Grammarly, you have to initially be approved by ShareASale! Then, you apply through ShareASale to become an affiliate for any of their thousands of affiliate options! Over 4500 in fact!
ShareASale, and the numerous other companies like it, is an intermediary between the company you want to promote (the Merchant) and you (the Affiliate).
They do the tracking, the payments, and all that boring administrative stuff.
Now, there are plenty of companies that do this for affiliates. You can find one down below at #3. So, why ShareASale?
It is simple to provide leads to ShareASale, especially because you’ll become passionate about the company quickly! You can earn about $1 per person that signs up through ShareASale. Easy!
Pros: If you are approved by ShareASale, you will automatically become an affiliate for them, and you are able to start promoting ShareASale right away. No extra work needed!
Plus, they offer tons of popular companies that you can be approved from within the day!
Cons: Payout is low, but depending on your niche, this could earn you quite a bit per month!

3. FLEXOFFERS

WHY FLEXOFFERS?

For any of you interested in writing about personal finance (which, honestly, can fit within nearly any niche anyway!), then FlexOffers is another awesome affiliate intermediary to be a part of!
Just like ShareASale, FlexOffers has a ton of companies that you can become an affiliate through!
For those interested in writing any articls about saving money, our favorites so far are:
Groupon
Udemy
Personal Capital
Acorns
Pros: There are some great companies you can become an affiliate for through this program! We love it for personal finance blogging, but it has thousands of options! Plus, the tracking, charts, and information it provides to you is clean as well.
Cons: There is no set amount that you earn from specifically referring others to FlexOffers. It varies, and we feel FlexOffers is better for the high-quality companies you find inside, rather than trying to just be an affiliate for them alone.

2. TAILWIND

WHY TAILWIND?

The biggest question here is, “Why not!?”
If you are a blogger, than you already should have Tailwind.
You can check out one of our articles for new bloggers here regarding this awesome service!
Now, what is interesting is that Tailwind actually has it’s own affiliate links through your personal account. Yet they also have an affiliate program through ShareASale.
So, what is the difference?
If you refer a person who signs up for Tailwind through a link you post from your actual Tailwind account, you can earn a one-time payment of $15. In fact, it is not really a payment. It is a credit to 1 month free for your personal account.
Yet, if you sign up to be an affiliate for Tailwind through ShareASale, then you earn a recurring 15% commission each month.
Pros: Can we get a “YAY” for the 90-day cookie!? A big reason why this made the list.
ALSO: You get a recurring 15% commission. Meaning, if a new blogger signs up for a monthly Tailwind plan, you will receive 15% commission every month!
Cons: There is high competition among bloggers, because this affiliate program is so good. You’ll have to really stand out against the crowd to get good money from this one. But, it is totally possible!

1. AMAZON

WHY AMAZON?

Being an Amazon affiliate is considered one of the easiest ways to make money, for literally any niche ever.
Have a cooking blog? Promote your favorite utensils, books, and cookware. Have a gardening blog? Promote the best tools, fertilizers, and seeds. Have a car blog? Promote the most effective cleaning materials, lights, tools, etc.
You get the idea.
There are some awesome benefits of this program, and some not so great ones.
First, is that it is very beginner-friendly! You can get signed up in minutes and be linking products quickly. It is easy to learn and use.
Now, you do have to be careful. They require you put a very specific disclaimer either at the bottom of your page (we have one, for example) or at the top of each post. They will deny your application if you do not have their specific words.
Also, you must make 3 separate sales within 180 days to be accepted. Sounds easy enough, but it can take time! It is all about the art of writing your articles to make sure you refer your readers to links.
Reason being, the cookie only lasts 24 hours.
Remember how some of the above cookies last 90 days? Yeah. This lasts one day. Meaning, your reader, who clicked on the link, must make a purchase within one day for you to earn from it.
But what is so great is that there are tons of people who earn from Amazon as an affiliate, and it honestly is super easy to do so.
Just make sure you read through their instructions, or else you’ll have to restart your entire application process and redo all the links on your blog! Yikes!
Pros: Beginner-friendly and get started within minutes. It is great for every niche! Amazon is a good option, not as your only way to earn, but as a supplemental means to your blogging income!
Cons: You need to follow their strict rules and it takes awhile to be approved for some new bloggers (3 separate, successful purchases must be made within 180 days)
Let’s Summarize!
Interested in monetizing a blog? You came to the right place! We started out with these affiliates, and have seen many other new bloggers do the same. It never hurts to try; they’re all free to sign up!
When you sign up for a service like ShareASale or FlexOffers, you can both promote the company itself, and hundreds, to thousands (okay, let’s be honest, that’d be a bit difficult!) of companies. It’s a good place to start getting experience!
BONUS TIP: If you take a course like this one that is a step-by-step guide to blogging, you could make significant cash as an affiliate!
